So we are very fortunate to have teamed up with Twinkl, a website with amazing resources that a lot of teachers use to help with their classes.

We first saw their name on our sons homework sheet and thought there would be no harm in telling them about our blog, and seeing if they were interested in us reviewing their resources. Well luckily for us they agreed, and so we were very pleased to receive a free 3 month subscription to explore the website and its resources ourselves, and we’re so glad they did because we can honestly it’s amazing.

Our little boy is only 4 and is in reception, so understandably they don’t receive a lot of homework, however he loves doing it and we are all up for encouraging learning at home, especially while he’s so keen.

There is such a wide range of resources online, and although we don’t always know what Finley is learning at school, the fact the resources are categorised into KS1, KS2 & KS3/4 is just fantastic, so we are able to pick any fun worksheet for him to complete, knowing that it will be beneficial to him.

Finley loves doing the Twinkl work sheets and especially loves the games. We think making learning fun is the main thing for kids, especially in Reception and year 1. A lot of the time Finley will request an activity sheet to complete, not even knowing he’s actually learning at the same time, and we even found a Lego maths sheet which he loved because he is Lego mad.

Our personal favourite has to be the multiplication square as it’s an easy way to teach him times tables from memory.

We’ve also discovered on our new iPad that we can open the PDF file and click the pencil button which allows you to write on the page, so you don’t even have to print out all of the work sheets if you don’t have access to a printer or ink. Personally we like Finley doing it on paper so he can practice more with his pencil, but either way it’s learning!

There is so much to look at on Twinkl website, we still haven’t had the time to check it all out but we absolutely love it, so keep checking back on this blog post as we will be adding new pictures and Finley’s reviews on all of the different subjects.

We are especially excited as a family to discover Twinkl Originals, fun fictional story books that we can read together, and get to know and love the new characters.
